Up to 30 places are available for the field trip to Tasman Island. Conference delegates will be given first preference for seats then the remainder will be open to the public.
Seats will be $220 from Safety Cove (a short hop to Tasman Island from the Tasman Peninsula) and $300 from Cambridge Airport (only 3 seats available).
Reservations and payments are being taken now, and can be paid by contacting reception@reefcatchments.com.
People departing from Safety Cove will be flown over in groups of five, with return flights being in the same order. We are planning on the helicopter shutting down on the island for a short time before beginning the return flights.
At this stage we will see if there is enough car transport to get delegates there and back to Hobart. It is likely some people will have hire cars and some of the additional local people will be able to fill up their cars too. Those flying from Cambridge will return there and can get a taxi from Hobart if required.
Current arrangements are for the helicopter to depart Cambridge Airport at 08:45 on Saturday 15 February. The first flight from Safety Cove with Island Arks passengers will be at 09:45. It takes 1 hr and 45 min to drive to Safety Cove from Hobart. A toilet stop and take away coffee at Port Arthur shops is recommended. There are no amenities at the Safety Cove Heli ops area.
Tea and coffee will be provided at Tasman Island. Bringing a light lunch or snacks and a water bottle is a good idea. Clean water is available on the island.
Maps of where to go at Safety Cove will be provided to participants.
More information or any changes to the arrangements will be available at the conference.
